ムニムニ

There are two artists that share the name Munimuni: 1) A Japanese punk band;
2) a Filipino indie folk band


1) ムニムニ / munimuni was formed in the spring of 2005, Kanon Matenrou being the core song/lyrics-writing member. They had their first live in July that year, and as they say, the rest is history. Their sound can be described as a hazy psychedelic mix of dark/goth-rock and post-punk, laden with references to classic visual kei. Their music is at times energetic, at times very melancholic but always has a certain dreamy quality.

2) Munimuni was formed in University of the Philippines Diliman, with Adj Jiao, Red Calayan, and TJ de Ocampo as the founding members. They figured out that they had similar tastes in music, so they started writing and arranging songs together. John Owen Castro was added as the band's session keyboardist in 2014. Jolo Ferrer and Josh Tumaliuan later came on to play bass and drums respectively. Broadly placed under the "indie folk" genre, the band's sound has also been described as "makata pop" (makata being the Tagalog word for poet), referring to the poetic lyrical style and emotional feel of their songs.
