“Shy Boy” is a song recorded by Canadian singer-songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen, released as a single on June 23, 2023. It serves as the fifth track of The Loveliest Time, the companion project for her fifth studio album, The Loneliest Time, released back in 2022. A week prior to its release, Carly officially announced the song after teasing and performing it live a few times. Lyrically is a love song where she sings about this particular guy that catches her attention, then goes to talk with him and after a little conversation she invites him to see her again. She doesn’t care what people say about him or tell her what to do, she just really likes this guy. It’s known that Carly revisits some songs that didn’t make it into her past albums, in this case, for the pre-chorus she took part of her outtake “It's Like This”, recorded in 2017 for her fourth studio album, Dedicated (2019), but ultimately left off the record.
