“That! Feels Good!“ is the opening title track from Jessie Ware's fifth studio album. She said the following about the track on social media: “We did it over the internet. Me and James [Ford] were in Hackney, Shun[gudzo] and Danny [Parker] were in LA. Shun and Danny had worked with us on What’s Your Pleasure? and it was actually Shun that put the exclamation mark after “That!” and I didn’t know if it was a typo but I loved it because I liked how it could mean all different things. It was so annoying actually doing it online, I never want to write a record online ever again. I had this idea of having loads of people with voices saying “That feels good” in all their different ways. My mum’s on there. Some people excelled, some people didn’t and I wanted to transport you into this “pleasure world”.“ — via Twitter “I needed it to feel like you landed straight into a groove, which is very different to how I started What’s Your Pleasure?. It felt like I was imagining me as D’Angelo or James Brown. With the spoken thing at the start of this track, I’d said to James Ford, ‘Let’s really enjoy this intro: What do you think about [including] loads of different people so it felt like were in an orgy?’ It was about making people feel slightly uncomfortable, particularly British people, and to make you go, ‘Hang on, what is she about to do?’ Those voices are Roísín Murphy, Kylie Minogue, Aisling Bea, Jamie Demetriou, Gemma Arterton, benny blanco, my mum, my podcast producer Alice and her husband, who speak French, because they sounded really good, an ex-boyfriend who’s Spanish and Clara Amfo. We got them all!“ —via Apple Music
