Kanye West - Closed On Sunday

[Chorus]
Closed on Sunday, you're my Chick-fil-A
Closed on Sunday, you my Chick-fil-A
Hold the selfies, put the 'Gram away
Get your family, y'all hold hands and pray
When you got daughters, always keep 'em safe
Watch out for vipers, don't let them indoctrinate
Closed on Sunday, you my Chick-fil-A
You're my number one, with the lemonade
Raise our sons, train them in the faith
Through temptations, make sure they're wide awake
Follow Jesus, listen and obey
No more livin' for the culture, we nobody's slave

[Verse]
Stand up for my home
Even if I take this walk alone
I bow down to the King upon the throne
My life is His, I'm no longer my own
I pray to God that He'll strengthen my hand
They will think twice steppin' onto my land
I draw the line, it's written in the sand
Try me and you will see that I ain't playin'
Now, back up off my family, move your hands
I got my weapons in the spirit's land
I, Jezebel don't even stand a chance
Jezebel don't even stand a chance

Kanye West continues with the gospel theme of the album, naming “Closed on Sunday” after an important concept in Christianity. While Saturday is technically the Sabbath in Judaism, Sunday is considered to be a holy day of rest for most Christians. In the Bible, there are numerous passages that specifically state the significance of resting one day out of the week. In Exodus 20:8-11, it is listed as the fourth commandment: "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." In the chorus, Kanye alludes to the famous, Christian-owned fast food chain, Chick-fil-A, and discusses the way their stores are closed on this day. The outro is spoken by A$AP Bari, who is also known as Young Lord. He confirmed the vocal feature and thanked Ye for putting him on the track via his Instagram story.
