Kanye West - Runaway
And I always find, yeah, I always find somethin' wrong
You been puttin' up wit' my shit just way too long
I'm so gifted at findin' what I don't like the most
So I think it's time for us to have a toast
Let's have a toast for the douchebags,
Let's have a toast for the assholes,
Let's have a toast for the scumbags,
Every one of them that I know
Let's have a toast for the jerkoffs
That'll never take work off
Baby, I got a plan
Run away fast as you can
She find pictures in my email
I sent this bitch a picture of my, dick
I don't know what it is with females
But I'm not too good with that, shit
See, I could have me a good girl
And still be addicted to them hoodrats
And I just blame everything on you
At least you know that's what I'm good at
And I always find
Yeah, I always find
Yeah, I always find somethin' wrong
You been puttin' up with my shit just way too long
I'm so gifted at findin' what I don't like the most
So I think it's time for us to have a toast
Let's have a toast for the douchebags,
Let's have a toast for the assholes,
Let's have a toast for the scumbags,
Every one of them that I know
Let's have a toast for the jerkoffs
That'll never take work off
Baby, I got a plan
Run away fast as you can
Run away from me, baby
Run away
Run away from me, baby
Run away
Doesn't have to get crazy,
Why can't she just run away?
Babe I've got a plan,
Run away as fast as you can
Run away from me, baby
Run away
Run away from me, baby
Run away
Doesn't have to get crazy,
Why can't she just, run away?
Baby I got a plan,
Run away as fast as you can
(Pusha T)
24/7, 365, pussy stays on my mind
I-I-I-I did it, all right, all right, I admit it
Now pick your next move, you could leave or live wit' it
Ichabod Crane with that motherfuckin' top off
Split and go where? Back to wearin' knockoffs, ha ha
Knock it off, Neiman's, shop it off
Let's talk over mai tais, waitress, top it off
Hoes like poachers wanna fly in your Freddy loafers
You can't blame 'em, they ain't never seen Versace sofas
Every bag, every blouse, every bracelet
Comes with a price tag, baby, face it
You should leave if you can't accept the basics
Plenty hoes in the baller-nigga's matrix
Invisibly set, the Rolex is faceless
I'm just young, rich, and tasteless
P!
(Kanye)
Never was much of a romantic
I could never take the intimacy
And I know it did damage
Plus the look in your eyes, is killing me
I guess you knew an advantage
Cuz you can blame me for every thing
And I don't know how imma manage
If one day you just up and leave
And, I always find somethin' wrong
Yeah I always find somethin' wrong
You been puttin' up with my shit just way too long
I'm so gifted at findin' what I don't like the most
So I think it's time for us to have a toast
Let's have a toast for the douchebags,
Let's have a toast for the assholes,
Let's have a toast for the scumbags,
Every one of them that I know
Let's have a toast for the jerkoffs
That'll never take work off
Baby, I got a plan
Run away fast as you can
"Runaway" is the second single from American musician and producer Kanye West's fifth studio album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. The song features a guest verse rapper Pusha T of Clipse. The production was handled by West, alongside co-producers Emile, Jeff Bhasker, and Mike Dean. The composition features chamber pop and progressive pop elements, including a signature piano riff, intricate drum and vocal samples, baroque string arrangements reminiscent of his 2005 album Late Registration, all crescendoing into a 3-minute vocoder outro. Described as a deeply personal song in nature, it expresses West's thoughts on his failed relationships, and his acceptance of the media's perception of him. Lyrically, the song explores criticism aimed at West in the past and serves as a "toast to the douchebags." West premiered the song at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12, receiving positive reviews from critics. He later released the song as a single on October 4, and immediately recieved universal acclaim from music critics and was listed amongst the best songs of the year by several publications, including MTV, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Complex, New York Post, amongst others. Critics praised the song for its sincere subject matter, the openness of the song and the soulful, clean production. The song quickly became one of the best reviewed singles released by West, with several critics noting that the track solidified West's commercial comeback with the public. The song has since appeared on multiple decade-end and all-time lists as one of the greatest songs of all time, including at number 25 on Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time in 2021. The song is also the centerpiece to a 35 minute short film (also titled Runaway) directed by West, a segment of which serves as the song's official music video. The film, made as a companion piece to the album, also recieved positive reviews from critics, who praised the scope of the video, the degree of creativity, and the cinematography and production design. The video was nominated for Video of the Year at the BET Awards 2011, and West was nominated for Director of the Year.
