M.I.A. - Paper Planes
[Verse 1]
I fly like paper, get high like planes
If you catch me at the border I got visas in my name
If you come around here, I make 'em all day
I get one done in a second if you wait
I fly like paper, get high like planes
If you catch me at the border I got visas in my name
If you come around here, I make 'em all day
I get one done in a second if you wait
Sometimes I think sittin' on trains
Every stop I get to I'm clocking that game
Everyone's a winner, we're making our fame
Bona fide hustler making my name
Sometimes I think sittin' on trains
Every stop I get to I'm clocking that game
Everyone's a winner, we're making our fame
Bona fide hustler making my name
[Chorus]
All I wanna do is–, and a–
And take your money
All I wanna do is–, and a–
And take your money
All I wanna do is–, and a–
And take your money
All I wanna do is–, and a–
And take your money
Paper Planes is the third single from M.I.A.'s sophomore album Kala and interpolates The Clash's Straight to Hell. The song was released digitally on February 11th, 2008. It became popular because of its use in a trailer for David Gordon Green's "Pineapple Express", and for its appearance in the 8-time Oscar and 4-time Golden Globe winning film "Slumdog Millionaire". Consequently, it peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #12 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. Paper Planes was also nominated for Record Of The Year at The 51st Annual GRAMMY® Awards but lost to Robert Plant & Alison Krauss's song Please Read The Letter. The song is listed at number 236 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
