TOKYO’S REVENGE

“GOODMORNINGTOKYO!” is the breakout single by the east-coast based rapper, TOKYO’S REVENGE. On this song, Tokyo addresses fake rappers, gang violence, and sexual encounters over a hard-hitting trap beat produced by Cliiifford. The title refers to the song’s effect as a sort of introduction to new fans who had just become aware. “GOODMORNINGTOKYO!” passed over a million streams on his SoundCloud, making it his first song ever to reach a million streams on any platform. The song would originally see success as it was used within meme videos as well as just being a good song overall, but it wouldn’t be until December of 2019 when the song would take off due to the success it found on TikTok, similarly to Lil Nas X’s smash hit “Old Town Road.” Tokyo signed to Interscope Records due to the success of the song. “GOODMORNINGTOKYO!” was certified gold by the RIAA in June of 2020. Although it doesn’t appear on the RIAA’s official website as of June 30, 2020, TOKYO would partially show off his gold plaque on June 30, 2020, through his Instagram story.
